Rev (Prof) Greg Erhabor – A PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE
The Professor of Medicine at the Obafemi Awolowo University and Consultant Physician and Head of the Chest Unit at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, was born on the 26th of July 1957.He has achieved great success in academia and research and is renowned for his uncompromising dedication to perfection.
Professor Erhabor is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians (FWACP), American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP), and the Royal Colleges of Physicians in Edinburgh and London. Having served as an International Regent of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) for six years, Prof. Erhabor is now an Executive Committee Member of the Council of Global Governors of the College.
He is one of the pioneering founders of the Pan-African Thoracic Society, former national delegate of the European Respiratory Society, former President of the Nigerian Thoracic Society (NTS) and former Chairman, STOP TB Nigeria. After serving for many years as the secretary and program secretary of the Chronic Lung Disease division of International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (IUATLD) based in Paris, Prof. Erhabor functioned as the Vice-Chair of the union for three years. He is a member of the British Thoracic Society and the American Thoracic Society till date.
Rev (Prof) Greg Erhabor was former Chief Examiner and Internal Assessor, Faculty of Internal Medicine, West African College of Physicians. He is the Coordinator, West African College of Physicians Examinations (Internal Medicine) – Abuja Centre. He is a member of many national and International Boards including being Advisory Board Member, Global Health Promotion on Community Health Promotion Strategies and Non-Communicable Diseases Control in Africa (2009) and Chairman of Advisory Board Member (Pfizer): The AFME Pneumococcal Adult (Vaccine).
He was External Program Evaluator, East Africa Training Initiative, Ethiopia in 2018. He developed the World Health Organization (WHO) Document on Non-Communicable Respiratory Diseases in Africa and was part of the WHO Global mHealth Initiative on E-Health Research.
He is the Key Resource Person, Omron Healthcare Respiratory Academy Training of Trainee, Hoofddorp, Netherlands, where he developed eight modules of the Respiratory Training Curriculum and was facilitator and trainer in Netherlands.
The Professor is also the Key Resource Person, Omron Healthcare – Nigeria, where he developed the modules of Respiratory Training Curriculum in Nigeria and facilitates the training nationwide. He is the Principal Investigator of the Sensation of breathlessness among asthmatics (Asthma Special Trustees United Bristol Hospital Grant); Co-PI, Burden of Obstructive Lung disease (BOLD) Study I – Nigeria Centre (2010), and Principal Investigator, Burden of Obstructive Lung disease (BOLD) Study II – Nigeria Centre in 2018, amongst others.

Due to Prof. Erhabor’s work, he has been invited to speak at conferences around the world and published in major journals. He is a well published author who has written over one hundred and twenty (120) articles in peer reviewed national and international journals.
He has authored two respiratory textbooks – Pulmonary Function Tests: Spirometry and Peak Flow in Clinical Practice & Asthma: Basic Principles and Management Strategy, and has published several information booklets on asthma, tuberculosis and other chest diseases. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the West African Journal of Medicine, Co-Editor-In-Chief of the African Journal of Respiratory Medicine.

He is the President and Founder of the Spokesman Communication Ministries and Senior Pastor of the Sanctuary of Hope Church in Ile-Ife, Osun state, Nigeria. He is also the coordinator of the Spokesman School of Effective Ministry and Leadership. He is the Host of the Hope for the Nation Television Broadcast.

Prof. Erhabor has supervised over thirty respiratory residents across the country that has successfully defended their part 2 dissertations. He has also trained numerous residents in General Internal Medicine, supervised numerous postgraduate students for Master’s degree and have taught thousands of medical students.
He has been featured on major National Television Networks and Dailies on the prevention and management of lung diseases. He currently trains and mentors students, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, in the art and skill of medicine at the Obafemi Awolowo University / Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.
Rev. Prof. Erhabor is an accomplished leader and devoted shepherd. He is a man of tremendous character who appeals to individuals from many racial, social, and economic backgrounds because of his warm demeanor and love for all. He has an extraordinary ability to connect with people, regardless of their age or status, because of his profound sense of humility.

Rev. Prof Erhabor is married to Rev. (Mrs.) FolakemiAyodeleErhabor.The stability of Professor Erhabor’s family life is evidence of his integrity as a devoted and accountable person. He finds joy and pleasure in his marriage to Reverend Mrs. AyodeleErhabor. Their close relationship is demonstrated by her disciplined and moral nature, which aligns with his own.
Paul, John, and Daniel are their three cherished children, whom they love and adore dearly. Professor Erhabor is a kind and devoted husband to his wife and a decent father who instills strong ideals in his kids to help them become well-rounded adults. This family dynamic is an example of strong Christian values and inspires others. Their first son, Paul got married in 2021.
Reverend Mrs. Ayodele Erhaborhas worked as a professional nurse and midwife for more than three decades. She received her fundamental nursing training at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Nigeria, and her B.Sc. in nursing education at the same institution.
She holds a Registered Nurse Educator (Tutor) (RNT) designation from the Nigerian Nursing and Midwifery Council. She graduated from ObafemiAwolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria with a Masters degree in Sociology/Anthropology and a Masters degree in Nursing.
Rev. (Mrs.) Erhabor works as the assistant director of nursing education at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals’ Complex’s School of Nursing in Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

Prof. Erhabor takes part in efforts for social responsibility. He is the President/ Founder of Asthma and Chest Care Foundation, a non-governmental organization with a tripod aim of pursuing research, education and patient care among asthmatics, and those with other chest diseases.
