Evangelist Gloria Olushola Bamiloye, fondly called Gloria Mike-Bamiloye is indeed what the Bible calls a “Virtuous Woman”; successful at the home front and in ministry. She is a Nigerian gospel actress, dramatist, producer, director, scriptwriter, and author. She is the vice president/co-founder of Mount Zion Drama Ministry.
Early life of Gloria Mike-Bamiloye
Gloria Bamiloye was born on February 4, 1960, in Ilesha, Osun State, but she grew up in Lagos and Ibadan, where she received her education in both locations. At a young age, she lost her father and was singlehandedly raised by her mother, who effectively nurtured her, instilling in her the qualities necessary to become a positive impact on others.
Gloria was born into a Muslim home, but she later converted to Christianity subsequent to her elder brother’s conversion from Islam to Christianity. She received her early education in Ilesha, Osun State, Nigeria. Following the completion of her secondary education, she proceeded to enroll in the esteemed Oyo State College of Education, Ilesha, where she pursued a course of study in English Language and Religious Studies. Evangelist Gloria pursued further academic endeavors and completed her teacher training at the Divisional Teachers Training College located in Ipetumodu.
Gloria Mike-Bamiloye Marriage
During her studies at the College of Education, Evangelist Gloria Bamiloye discovered her passion for acting, so she joined the drama ministry of her fellowship, where she eventually met her husband, Evangelist Mike Bamiloye in 1983. She co-founded the Mount Zion Drama Ministry with her husband on August 4, 1985, the same day she accepted his marriage proposal.
She responded to her husband’s proposition after a month of prayer by writing “I will marry you” on a piece of paper. She was 24 years old while he was 28 years old when they got married on October 8, 1988.
Her parents initially disapproved of the marriage because they believed Evangelist Mike was financially incapable and unemployed. She has assisted her spouse in expanding the ministry. Today, Mount Zion Drama Ministry enjoys widespread renown and can be considered the pioneer of Christian films in Nigeria. They are blessed with three children; Damilola Mike-Bamiloye, Joshua Mike-Bamiloye and Darasimi Oyor, and five Grandchildren.
Gloria Bamiloye fervently discusses the need to cultivate a spiritually-oriented upbringing for children and fostering a God-centered environment within households. Her teachings are not merely theoretical, as they are evident in the exemplary lives of her children, who have been reared with a strong foundation in godliness, and in the harmonious dynamics of her family. In an interview, she offered the following advice for creating godly households:
“Every married woman must have the vision for her home because that is the primary ministry for every married woman. Not that God can’t use you beyond your home but whatever you will be eventually, if the home is not standing, you cannot go far. Though in our modern world, many are despising the home thinking they can go far…when your home is standing firmly, then God can take you anywhere, He can use you to any level.
That is why I always talk more about the woman, stay in your home, raise your children, help your husband. You won’t lose anything, rather you are building yourself and you are establishing your future. All these children are the future, if you don’t raise them now, you are neglecting your future and anything can happen, but if you want to have peace at the end of the day, you want to have rest, build those children, keep your home, you will laugh at last”.
