A Nigerian Catholic priest, Father Kelvin Ugwu, has reacted to a trending video of Single Women Praying For Husband in Wedding gowns as “disgusting” and “a sign of desperation”.
Fr. Kelvin Ugwu voiced his worries about the rising popularity of this practice and questioned the churches that encouraged ladies to attend these prayer sessions wearing wedding gowns.
He stated that wearing a wedding gown did not ensure a happy marriage and questioned why men were not encouraged to wear wedding suits and pray for their spouses.
He highlighted the value of compatibility and deeper qualities in a partnership.
“It is now becoming a trend, and the more we keep quiet, it will soon be seen as normal,” he stated. To all those churches asking women to wear wedding gowns to church so they can pray to have husbands, what you are doing is not Christian. . . In fact, it is disgusting. What sort of desperation is this?“
Why are you not asking the men to put on wedding suits and pray for wives?”
Overall, the trending video of these Single Women Praying For Husband in Wedding Gown has generated provocative conversations about the intersection of Christianity, marriage, and societal values.
