Nollywood Actor Jimmy Odukoya becomes Senior Pastor After Father’s Death

Nollywood actor, Jimmy Odukoya, has been appointed senior pastor of the Fountain of Life Church.

The church’s founder, Taiwo Odukoya, passed away at the age of 67 on August 7 in the United States. Jimmy Odukoya, who played Oba Ade — in Netflix’s ‘Woman King’ movie, is the first son of the late cleric and his deceased first wife, Bimbo Odukoya.

Pastor Rotimi Okpaise of The Fountain of Life Church, during worship on Sunday announced to the congregation  that before his passing, Pastor Odukoya confided in members of the board of trustees (BoT) about the succession plan.

According to Mr. Okpaise, Jimmy received unanimous approval from the BoT to serve as both the senior pastor and board chair.

Jimmy will be installed on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

Fountain of Life Church was started in 1992 by his father, Taiwo Odukoya, who served as senior pastor until his passing.

Pastor Odukoya died less than two years after his South African-born wife Nomthi lost her fight with cancer on November 9, 2021, after a two-year battle. Two boys were born during their 11-year marriage to Nomthi.

Pastor Odukoya was married to Bimbo for 21 years before marrying Nomthi. The host of the local and worldwide television program “Single and Married,” which addresses real-world problems people have in marriages and relationships, was Bimbo.

Unfortunately, Bimbo, however, passed away in the Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Sosoliso plane tragedy in 2005.

Jimmy has had a huge transformation from the big screen to the pulpit. The recently released films “I am Nazzy,” “Mambam’s Diamond,” “Crazy Grannies,” and “The Wait” all featured the actor-turned-pastor.

In 2013, Jimmy Odukoya wed Kemi, and the couple is now parents to two kids.
